Welcome to St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Primary School
St. Mary of the Angels is currently a one form entry, voluntary aided Catholic primary school with a Nursery class in Bayswater, London which is in the Diocese of Westminster and the City of Westminster Local Authority. The school was originally built in the 1850's as part of a complex of buildings making up the parish church and house on Moorhouse Road and Artesian Road. The school moved to the new site of Shrewsbury Road in the 1950's where it remains today. The school has extensive playground/outdoor space which provides direct access to all classrooms from ground level throughout.
The school serves mainly, but not exclusively, Catholic families residing in the parishes of St. Mary of the Angels (Bayswater), Our Lady of Sorrows (Paddington), Our Lady of Lourdes, St Vincent De Paul (Harrow Road) and Our Lady Queen of Heaven (Queensway). We are a deverse community and welcome pupils and families from all faiths and backgrounds.
In September 2025, St Mary of the Angels and Our Lady of Dolours Catholic Primary Schools amalgamated to form a larger Catholic school - on the site of St Mary of the Angels Catholic Primary school and where the school name remains as St Mary of the Angels. Our families come from a range of distances - from nearby to quite a commute in order for their child to remain on roll here at SMoA School. We pride ourselves to be a family school - with the recent joining of two schools to form one large community.
Our Mission
At St. Mary of the Angels we work together to develop a loving relationship with God and each other; 'we are a community of faith and learning following Jesus in all that we think, do and say'. Our renewed strapline has developed through joining both amalgamated school's straplines together.
We aim to provide a broad, balanced and creative curriculum to enable every child to develop their gifts from God and be the best they can be.
We achieve this by:
- creating a welcoming, happy, secure and caring environment in which all can work and achieve their full potential;
- ensuring our broad, balanced and creative curriculum meets the spiritual, emotional, moral, intellectual and physical needs of all pupils and prepares them for the responsibilities of adult life;
- developing a spirit of care, generosity, forgiveness and equal opportunity within our multicultural community through prayer and living our faith;
- worshipping together as a community, celebrating meaningful and appropriate liturgy;
- ensuring that the prayer life of all in our school community is nourished, guided and developed;
If you wish to join our school community or are thinking about doing so, please do contact the school office to request information on admissions/enrolling. You are also welcome to attend a school tour and meet one of our school leaders where you will be able to ask questions and get a real 'feel' of the school.
We thank you for visiting our school website.
With very kindest regards,
Sarah Alley, Headteacher
