Welcome to St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Primary School
Welcome to the 2026-27 academic year.
We hope you have all had a wonderful summer break - and are looking forward to our new school year 2026-27.
It was wonderful to see our pupils' faces when they returned to school on Monday 7th September 2026. It was wonderful meeting our many new starters - and getting to know our new families too.
If you wish to enrol your child here at St Mary of the Angels please contact the school office asap. Please note that we are full in some year groups, however, we do have some spaces across the school.
Please look out for our School Tour dates for this term.
Ofsted Inspection 09 June 2026
Ofsted visited our school on Tuesday 9th June and Wednesday 10th June 2026.
As you will know, the school amalgamated with Our Lady of Dolours Catholic Primary School last September 2025. Despite a challenging year of amalgamation and change - the school is very proud of the Ofsted Report that clearly shows the hard work and commitment of the staff, governors and school community.
We are proud to present our Ofsted Report and hope you enjoy reading it too.
With very kindest regards, SMoA Team
‘The school is a welcoming and nurturing place. Pupils feel that staff care about them. They say there is always an adult they can talk to if they are worried.’
‘Leaders have provided steady and thoughtful guidance during a period of significant challenge that has placed real pressure on the school community. They have managed the amalgamation of two schools with resilience and determination.’

Catholic School Inspection Report 2024 'Outstanding'
The overall quality of Catholic education provided by the school was judged to be outstanding following the Catholic Schools Inspecorate's inspection of the school in June 2024.
'St Mary of the Angels is an exceptionally welcoming and joyful community. Pupils understand and fully embrace the Catholic identity and mission of the school. Pupils show a deep and consistent respect for themselves and others, and consequently behaviour around the school is exceptional, coupled with outstanding attitudes to learning. The inspiring leadership team, including governors, are a beacon of excellence, with a deep understanding of the mission they serve, both in the local community and beyond. Pupils have excellent subject knowledge in religious education and make consistently good progress, building effectively on prior learning so as to reflect spiritually and to think ethically. Pupils engage deeply and are active participants in the rich variety of opportunities for prayer and liturgy across the school.'

Forest School Dates - Academic Year 2026-27
Dear Parents/Carers, please see the dates and times for all the planned half days for Forest School coming up this year - from Reception Class up to Year 4.
We have booked half days this year as the feedback on whole days (last year) was that the weather could sometimes prove challenging. We hope the shorter sessions will be more suitable going forward.
Kind regards,
SMoA Team
